OMG

FSR I completely forgot to write about digital writing. So I get a call from my fiancĂ© who reminded me. CID I told her, she was a little worried that I hadn’t started but I was CAAC. B4 I started, I thought to myself, this new media stuff hasn’t affected actual writing. I mean, I text, blog, twitter you know it’s like BTDTGTS. So now people are complaining that communications is suffering, GAL. I have done lots of research and I can’t find any scientific evidence that shows new media affects writing, you can look for yourself, just GI. And for those of you who say this generation is ruining the art or writing well IBTD. Take me for example; IHA so I try to communicate as clear as possible B/C without good communication the world is lost. So I believe it is not the new media who is destroying communication but people, ICBW and if I am LGMAS. Well IOH for now so let me know what you think ASAP.

Dear Mr. President

The economy makes it impossible for start-up entrepreneurs. May not be your fault but it's your problem. American dream and business plan; check! Now make banks release the funds.

My First, Second Life!

So guess what? My first life is no longer good enough. I thought I was doing well. I served my country, I attended and completed a four year university, I met and fell in love with someone, we bought a house, we have dogs, hold down a job and shockingly we have friends that we can actually see in First life. But it is not enough. Now I have to start all over in Second life.

I have to say it's very realistic. First life is slow and takes time to get going, Second life completely slows down your computer. First life you have friends that you have known your entire life, Second life your friends live forever. In First life you have pets and come to love them as family, in Second life your friends are pets and they speak to you. In First life time flies when you're having fun, in Second life you can fly for fun or breathe under water, whatever. The comparisons can go on forever.

Maybe if I work really hard I will accumulate the riches in Second life that I so foolishly chased in First life. I can dedicate the next 30 years trying to achieve my goals in Second life because who needs real life in the First place?

On Second thought...........

Cyberethics Response

Society has the equivalent to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder when it comes to internet communication. At first it was shocking and scary, sometimes offensive but we continued to experience more. Perhaps by force in the beginning but ultimately the new form on online communication became second nature. To the point that if we remove ourselves from the battlefield of technology we struggle to adapt, similar to soldiers when they return from war.

What's changed is that we fail to realize we are addicted to internet communication. Sure we laugh at the idea of going a day without email or heaven forbid, Google. But we don't really know unless we are forced to go without. Have you ever lost your phone, it's the most frustrating thing. The feeling of helplessness over an object that fits in your pocket. WOW. If your car breaks down you call a friend and manage to make it through the day without transportation but the feelings just don't compare to the loss of wireless communication with the world.

Make no mistake, I love everything about my internet communication, but I do wonder how far removed I've become with society and how much closer I've with digital sources of information.
